California Technical Assistance Center (CalTAC) by Phone

The CalTAC telephone number, 800-955-2954, is still being staffed by a small number of call center representatives—note that CalTAC is no longer available via chat and the CalTAC mailbox is no longer monitored. These representatives are available to answer basic questions for LEA coordinators; issues might be escalated to your assigned Success Agent, if necessary. Contact CalTAC by phone with issues such as:

  • Locate information
    • on websites (such as where to find the Initial ELPAC RSVP list),
    • in manuals (such as where to find the instructions for reporting a testing incident), or
    • in online systems such as TOMS (such as how to assign a student to an alternate assessment).
  • Provide details about training, with
    • workshop calendars and registration and
    • how to request Moodle Keys and access points.
  • Assist with TOMS tasks, including
    • resetting a username or password,
    • adding a user when requested by a superintendent or LEA coordinator,
    • assigning user roles,
    • generating and downloading reports,
    • uploading a file,
    • placing an order, and
    • creating shipping labels.
  • Support the Test Administrator Interface, with
    • basic troubleshooting and
    • setting up a test session.
  • Provide general information about reports
  • Assist to identify, download, and install supported secure browsers
  • Support and document testing questions and issues, such as
    • searching and updating student demographics,
    • understanding how an accessibility resource works,
    • explaining condition codes,
    • explaining basic error codes, and
    • Accessing the Teacher Hand Scoring System (THSS) and Data Entry Interface (DEI)
